Production process

The olives are received by the olive mills in order to extract olive oil, and at the same time the by-product of this process, which is olive-pomace, is produced.

The olive-pomace is a raw material for the olive oil mill and consists of about 5% pomace oil.

Production Stages:

  • The first stage of production is the drying of the olive core in special cylindrical dryers in order to remove most of its moisture
  • The next stage is the extraction with the aid of an extraction liquid (solvent), hexane, from which stage the crude pomace olive oil is collected. The product after extraction is called  exhausted pomace(olivecake) .

The pomace olive oil plant is a 100% ECOLOGICAL UNIT since it receives the by-product of olive oil production and turns it into a product. The drying process produces white smoke which in fact is not waste gas but the moisture emitted from the damp olive core. The extraction process is a closed circuit process, without waste.

In fact, the production of olive oil is inextricably linked to the existence of the Pomace oil mill and the production of olive-pomace oil and is therefore an indispensable part of it.
